THE HISTORY OF EL CAMPO BOWLING CENTER:
This center is the first of its kind, in that it was built
and purchased by many investors in the community and is
debt free. This project started in January of 2000. The
city of El Campo hosted a public forum to voice their
opinions, on what they would like to see happen in the
next 20 years in the city. One response that the Chamber
decided to make a reality was more family oriented, indoor
spots for fun. When the El Campo Chamber of Commerce and
Agriculture had it's annual board of directors retreat
they decided to pursue the idea of a state-of-the-art
bowling center.
In efforts to make the request a reality the Chamber had
public meetings for everyone who was interested in seeing
this project become a reality. Once the Chamber saw how
many were interested, they formed a committee to go out
and seek investors. The goal was to fund this project debt
free. A share of stock was $5,000.00. You could invest in
as many shares as you wished. The committee started gathering
the investors and knowledge of what type of center would
best fit El Campo. Within 6 months the financial goal of
raising 1,000,000.00 was reach and the project was moved
forward. On November 1, 2003, the El Campo Bowling Center
celebrated it's Grand Opening with 179 investors and debt
free. The bowling center cost around $1,300,000.00 to build.
It is 16 Brunswick Synthetic Lanes, Pro Shop, Lounge, Arcade
and Snack Bar. Frameworks automatic scoring with the new
Brunswick GS pinsetters. The center has every state-of-the-art
equipment possible. The center employees around 20 people.
The whole project was a complete success. This center was
created by many dedicated citizens that believed in their
community, to help improve the quality of life.
